Snow flurries of creativity

Watching the snow fall + photo polymer plates = new earrings and pendants for the winter months.

These latest additions to the Sunshine Girl collection were made possible by a new technique I learned: photo polymer plates (thank you M. Schindel for showing me how).

Photo polymer plates (PPP) are wonderful. They capture crisp lines, add texture, and best of all, make it easier for me to reproduce my designs.

Here's wishing you sugar plums dancing in your head, bright colored packages tied up with strings, and an adorable kitten like Taylor Swift's underneath the tree (that is if you asked for one).

I'll be thinking of all of this as I spend my day saving lives at Primary Children's Christmas Day. And the day after.

This is old news, but it's good news, so it's never too late to share, right?

Taylor Swift owns a Sunshine Girl necklace.

Yes, Taylor Swift. Feel wonderstruck.

A heart transplant patient at Primary Children's loves, loves, loves Taylor Swift. Her nurse (and my friend) Mindy decided Taylor's biggest fan had to meet her when she came to Salt Lake City in September. 

So after lots of phone calls, emails, and the help of the radio station 97.1 ZHT, Mindy arranged a meet-and-greet with Taylor Swift for this patient. And bonus, Mindy and the patient's mom got to meet Taylor too.

Well, this occasion called for something special. 

And this is where Sunshine Girl Jewelry comes in. 

Mindy ordered five heart necklaces: a necklace for each of Taylor's fans--the patient, mom, and Mindy--to wear to the special occasion, a necklace to thank the very nice radio programmer that arranged the meeting, and . . . 

A necklace for them to give Taylor to thank her for taking the time to meet them, and more importantly, for writing and singing songs that helped the patient get through the hard days and enjoy the good days.

I'm sure lots of photos were taken of this special meeting, but sometimes photos don't capture the feelings like a keepsake. Keepsakes, whether it's a shell from a favorite beach or a ring from your grandma's jewelry box, bring back those feelings of love, warmth, and peace. 

And what's more empowering than that?

As Taylor says,  "Life isn't how to survive the storm, it's about how to dance in the rain." Keepsakes help us find ways to dance in the rain.
